Photojournalism Assignment May 3, 2005

Digital photography changes daily, and it is important to stay on top of new techniques and technology to take the best photos possible. That is why I assigned you to read articles from Digital Photography Magazine.

I just checked Skyward and none of you have grades for the assignment. The Skyward assignment online should have told you to navigate to http://www.dpmag.com/, read the articles entitled "Ultimate Photo Printers," "10 Top Portrait Tips," "D-SLR Facts" and "The ISO Advantage." After reading these, you should be able to answer the questions on the assignment. You can keep both pages open (assignment and website) if you want.

Do this assignment on Tuesday (May 4) and check this blog on May 5 for the next assignment. The substitute teacher has your Skyward Login if you have forgotten it. If there are any issue accessing the assignment, have the substitute teacher call me.

Desktop Publishing - May 3-6

During the week of May 3-6, you will accomplish four tasks. You may turn the first three in as soon as they are complete so that you have more time to work on the fourth one.

During this time of year banquets take up a lot of our time. And these banquets require invitations, RSVP cards, and programs. You have the skills, using Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, to make beautiful and easily read documents. Using the information in labyb_hw/desktop publishing/banquet, you will create an invitation and RSVP card and then, using the same graphics and font, you will create the program for the banquet. Remember what you have learned about left and right aligning tabs, leaders, and font sizes when creating these documents.

DUE DATES:
Invitation and RSVP due May 4
Program due May 5

Last, you have been given the opportunity to design a t-shirt and have it printed by The Screen Stop. Using the specifications below, create a front to a t-shirt. Each design will be submitted and The Screen Stop will choose the best five. If your design is chosen, you will receive a t-shirt with your design.
Specifications:
Front Only
Maximum Size: 10.5" X 15"
No more than four colors (use swatches to make sure you only use four colors)
Must be created in Adobe Illustrator
Design must fall within one of two categories: Screen Stop or Ricebirds
GOOD LUCK!!!
Due Thursday at the end of class.

PHOTOJOURNALISM - February 12, 2010

Click on the link below and take the quiz over Chapters 5 and 6. The questions come from the assignments from Wednesday and Thursday. (You may have to copy and paste the URL into the browser.) Hit submit when you are finished. In the "Name" field, please put your last name, then first name.

After you have finished the quiz, search the Internet for images that show concepts covered in Chapters 5 and 6. In other words, find photos that look as if they were taken in the early morning or mid-day light, find photos that were obviously taken with a telephoto lens and with a wide-angle lens, etc. Find at least five good examples, save them in your 4th six weeks photos folder, naming them according to the concept they depict (ie: midday light.jpg, telephoto.jpg).

Have a safe weekend! See you Monday!
